May Bank Holiday Closing

We will be closed for the upcoming May Bank Holidays on Monday 3rd May and Monday 31st May. The clinic will be open as usual on Tuesday 4th May and Tuesday 1st June.

MASSAGE IS BACK!

We are excited to announce that, from 12th April, our Massage Therapists will be back in action at the clinic. After 3 months of lockdown, we know that many of you will be desperate to get yourselves booked in for an appointment with Kirstie or Kate, to help relieve some of the tension, aches and pains that have built up during this time.

Kirstie will be available on Mondays (1.30-5.15pm), Thursdays (1.30-5.15pm) and Fridays (1.15-3.30pm) from 12th April.

Kate will be available on Tuesdays (1.30-4.30pm) and Wednesdays (9am-12 midday) from 19th April.

All appointments will be 40 minutes in duration and cost £40. As with all our appointments, Kirstie and Kate will be wearing PPE and will ensure that all facilities are clean and COVID-safe for your visit.

Massage is a great way to relieve tension and to help you recover from the demands that you place on your body – whether that is from the challenges of working from home, or because of your current exercise regime.

To book your appointment, call the clinic on (0117) 330 6820 or book online.

Easter Closing 2021

The clinic will be closed on Good Friday (2nd April) and Easter Monday (5th April). We are open as usual on all other days. We would like to wish our patients a happy and healthy Easter.

Welcome back Katherine!

We are delighted to welcome Katherine Hills back to the KJP Physiotherapy Team. Katherine has been busy looking after her little boy Jack who was born in March 2020, but now she is ready to get back to practicing the Physiotherapy that she loves.

Katherine graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2012 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Since that time, she has been developing her skills in Physiotherapy in a number of roles in the UK and abroad. Katherine worked as Academy Physiotherapist for Hong Kong Rugby Union and worked at the Hong Kong Rugby 7s for four years in a row. She has toured all over Asia and the UAE as physiotherapist for the HKRFU Academy.

More recently, she has taken the role of Lead physiotherapist for Bishop Stortford, a semi-professional rugby team. Katherine has worked as a physiotherapist for the OCR world championships and been Physiotherapist for the Oxfam Trail Walker in Hong Kong.

Katherine completed her MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University (London) in 2018. Since then, she has worked as an MSK Physiotherapist in private practice in London and performed the role of Match Day Physiotherapist for West Ham Women’s U21 Academy.

Katherine will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9.00am – 1.45pm. To make an appointment to see her, please call the clinic on (0117) 330 6820 or book online on our website.

If you didn’t catch it, you can see the clip on our Facebook page.

Director Keith was discussing the impact of lockdown on aches, pains, and injuries. The changes in our lifestyle (such as working at kitchen tables, reduced movement, and a tendency to stay at home much more during the recent lockdown) can cause us to develop or exacerbate aches, pains and injuries.

Evidence suggests that the more quickly physiotherapy treatment is started after the initial problem develops, the faster the recovery time. Waiting weeks or months for an NHS appointment may mean that the problem is harder to resolve, so prompt action can make a real difference.

So, if you are experiencing aches, pains, or injuries, give our clinic a call on (0117) 330 6820 to make an appointment or find out more about how we can help you.

Getting vaccinated to keep you safe

We take the safety of our patients and staff very seriously. So, we are delighted to let you know that all staff at Keith James Physiotherapy have received their first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine.

According to the NHS website, the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine should give our staff good protection from Coronavirus. However, we will still be following all the existing protocols for Coronavirus protection – and getting the follow-up dose of the vaccination in a few weeks time.

If you have any queries about our therapies and how your appointment might be affected by the current pandemic, please give the clinic a call on (0117) 330 6820.

Put the Spring back in your step!

The combination of cold winter weather and shorter winter days can result in a lot of time spent indoors. At home there are usually limited opportunities to move about, which can mean that we get stiff and start developing aches and pains.

But there is something about the beginning of Spring that really helps us to want to get moving and take ourselves outside. The sight of Spring flowers, a change in the weather, and a bit of welcome sunshine are the boost that we all need at this time of year.

So, if you are feeling like you want to get out there and do some walking, running, cycling or any other physical activity, we can help you to get the Spring back in your step.

Give us a call on (0117) 330 6820 to find out how our team of therapists can help with aches, pains and injuries and get you ready to go out and enjoy the lovely Spring weather.

Meet the newest member of the KJP team – Sara Ayala

We are delighted to introduce you to our new physiotherapist Sara Ayala, who joined the KJP team just before Christmas. Sara is from Pamplona in Spain, the city known worldwide for the “Running of the bulls” and we are so pleased that she has now decided to make Bristol her home.

Sara graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona in 2004. In 2005, she decided to widen her knowledge as a therapist by doing a 5-year post-graduate course in Osteopathy (from the E.O.M. in Madrid). Sara has also trained in Dry needling and DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization).

After 9 years working in Musculoskeletal, Sports and Road Traffic Accident Rehabilitation in Pamplona, Sara moved to London with her partner with the aim of learning English and sharing knowledge with other professionals from all around the world. She spent 4 years working in busy and demanding clinics in the City of London and South Kensington, where she gained a great deal of valuable experience.

Her wide range of therapeutic tools will quickly take the patient to a pain-free state. Sara believes treating the symptoms is only the first step in the rehabilitation process; tackling the problem at its root and involving the patient in their own recovery are also key factors in providing a more durable solution.

In her spare time, Sara likes running, climbing, playing tennis and also paddle tennis (a rather popular sport in Spain which combines the fun of tennis with the trickiness of being in an enclosed court).

If you would like to find out more about what Sara does or book an appointment with her, please call the clinic on (0117) 330 6820.

We are open during the current lockdown

Following the Government announcement of the third Coronavirus lockdown from 5th January 2021, we are happy to let you know that Keith James Physiotherapy is currently open for business.

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapists made the following announcement regarding the delivery of physiotherapy:

Healthcare services, including physiotherapy, can continue to operate across the UK following new national lockdown restrictions announced yesterday for England and Scotland

Acupuncture and Podiatry services are also available at this time.

Unfortunately, following advice from relevant professional bodies, we are unable to offer appointments for Massage Therapy during the lockdown period.

We take the safety of our patients and staff very seriously so we will be following all of the procedures in our Coronavirus policy – and asking you to do the same.

Do not come into the clinic if you have symptoms of Coronavirus (or have been in contact with someone who has the virus). Please wear a face covering at all times while you are in the clinic and use the hand sanitiser provided.

If you have any questions about your appointment at Keith James Physiotherapy, give us a call on (0117) 330 6820 or email us at [email protected]. As you can imagine, we are busy dealing with the challenges thrown up by Coronavirus and this latest announcement, so please be patient if your call or query is not answered immediately. We will get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding.
