What is DNS?
DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization)
Have you ever wondered what DNS is? Our amazing Physiotherapist, Sara Ayala, is eager to share more about it with you below…
“What’s great about DNS is that it can be used as a preventative measure or to avoid relapse after an injury. DNS helps us comprehend and improve our fundamental movements, allowing us to continue doing the activities we love, such as gardening, tennis, or yoga, for longer due to our newfound awareness.
As babies, we instinctively follow a specific sequence of movements, which gradually strengthens us to stand and walk. Each position and transition provide the perfect training to create excellent stability and efficient patterns, allowing us to move independently.
However, due to modern-day circumstances like sitting at a desk all day, pushing ourselves too hard at the gym, or unconsciously having uneven posture, the instinctive patterns we developed as youngsters become distorted. Over time, our stability becomes compromised, which often results in overloading other areas of our bodies (mainly in our joints), leading to injury and pain in those structures.
With the DNS method, we can pinpoint where these points of instability are and work on restoring those innate patterns and stability. As a result, your body will be more evenly loaded, and those overloaded structures will find some relief.
I’m confident that if you stick with DNS, you’ll see significant improvements, particularly if you’ve been dealing with the same injury for an extended period and it’s important to note that DNS is not a quick fix, but it’s worth every session.”
